🎣 Convert Cmyk To Rgb Illustrator
Hello, I need to color convert path items stroke/fill in CMYK colorspace to RGB colorspace - essentially the functionality given by Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to RGB. In my code, I first select the path items. I then invoke the Convert to RGB menu action. However, nothing really happens. The colors stay in CMYK. The document color mode is RGB.
Color Swatches -- switching from CMYK to RGB. I created a newsletter that uses 2 spot colors (PMS 1795 and PMS 293). In my swatches palette, there are 2 icons next to the color -- one indicating the spot color and the other is either CMYK or RGB. The PMS 1795 has the spot and CMYK icons. The PMS 293 blue has the spot and RGB icons.
FYI, Draw (unlike Illustrator for example) allows both RGB and CMYK to reside in the same document. This means that existing objects will retain their color model even though you change the document's primary color mode. For most purposes, I'm convinced that RGB is the way to go, right up until the final output.

Change color settings (edit> color settings) to emulate Illustrator 6. Convert to cmyk mode. Results. There were two main issues converting to cmyk. Use of screen blending mode and the gradients themselves. Screen blending mode was described in previous posts. The gradients look also changed when converting from rgb to cmyk.
You might need to go a little back and forth between the RGB and CMYK view in the color panel (don't change the document color mode yet). When you get the color, rasterize in the resolution you need. Then use the same color management setup in Photoshop and convert into profile. The colors should come out as expected.

If you selected any global process or spot colors and you want to convert them to nonglobal process colors, select either CMYK or RGB from the Color Mode list (depending on the color mode of the document) and select the Convert option. Then use the sliders to adjust the colors.

When you open a CMYK document color profile, all the swatches, symbols, brushes, etc are CMYK items. When you switch Document Color Modes mid-stream, all those Library items (swatches, brushes, symbols, etc.) do not change color modes. This is why you can often see CMYK files with an RGB swatch or an RGB Symbol used in a CMYK file.

What it looks like to me, is one of two things Solve: Under file, check your document color mode and make sure it's set to RGB, illustrator defaults to CMYK for print and you should be able to change that in your preferences if you want. Change your reading on the filled block to 100% black within the color panel. Remove the cyan, magenta, and yellow percentages. You mentioned the placed file is an RGB image, you will want to convert that RGB image to CMYK in Photoshop prior to placing it in Illustrator. That way everything is truly in a CMYK state for printing.
