🎭 Bmw M5 E60 Common Problems
As such, the M5 E60 was pretty much a glorified, expensive, and account-draining toy that kept on getting pricier with each maintenance and repair. A failing SMG pump on the gearbox added to the car's problems, and it cost around $6,000 to fix. RELATED: Here's How E60 BMW M5 Ownership Will Bankrupt You

Electronic vehicle immobilization system EWS3. The EWS3 serves as an antitheft system and enables start of BMW vehicles. The function of the EWS3 is basically the same as that of the EWS2: A transponder chip is integrated in each of the vehicle keys. A ring coil is fitted about the ignition lock.
Save. unfoundhorsepower · #11 · Dec 21, 2008. NavM said: It is 10/05 production so the steering angle, VANOS and SMG motor/pump recalls apply to this car. It is at a non-bmw dealer and does not have an extended warranty. It has one year of factory warranty left. I plan on purchasing an extended warranty anyways.
The digi-dampers have a tendency to be problematic. If you can replace them with traditional coilovers without having iDrive go berserk every time you drive the car, that eliminates the problem. I’m sure the suspension bushings go bad as well, but most M cars have that problem. Other than that, they’re mostly solid.
The "high battery drain" message came up the next day I got done installing a video interface module and car DVD player. So I know the video module and the DVD player is the culprit. So I did some testing and double checking and here is my conclusion. On E63 and perhaps E60 car too - I discovered that power to the CD Changer, LCD monitor, CD
With the engine running open the hood. turn the engine off and remove the key. Listen for a click after the engine is off. This is the post run test for the throttle actuator. If it does not cycle fully, or in the expected time the DME should set a fault code. This is an easy way to verify that the actuator is at least cycling when a command is

Suspension issues. So my 08 e60 m5 has almost 60k on it. My car is completely stock. I don’t know if the previous owner ever replaced any suspension parts in the past but I do know that all parts are BMW original / OEM. With that being said, I recently got my stock rims fixed and powder coated along with the calipers and also put 2 brand new
This is the v10 m5. It has all of the same problems as the V8 m3 with two extra cylinders worth of problems. The problem is you could buy a nice one for $30k and easily spend $30k in maintenance the first year. Or you could spend $0 on maintenance. Look up how much a full brake job with rotors, pads, and sensors costs for an m5.

You can confirm a bad leak by pulling a spark plug and seeing if oil is in there. Other common areas are oil filter housing and oil cooler housing gaskets. If replacing valve cover, you have to replace the bolts, the motor gasket, and the eccentric sensor gasket at the same time. 10-30-2014, 07:20 AM #4. beshannon.
The 2009 E63 BMW M6 Is Not For Every Gearhead. Via Bring a Trailer. We agree with PistonHeads that the E63 M6’s SMG transmission’s propensity to drop $-bombs are pretty much a given. Granted, the rev-ravenous 5.0-liter V8 shared with the E60 M5 that sends the M6 barreling to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds is a massive plus.
Hi, My car is a 2005 E60 M5 which I have owned for around 5 years. For the last couple of years it had a No Crank No Start issue with the first cold start of the day, I had been through all the usual suggestions of Earth issues, Relays, etc. but nothing resolved it and finally I had a new CAS unit installed (££ ouch).
It is impossible for our exhaust or any other manufacturer's, for that matter, to cause an increased emissions warning light. Usually this is caused by a malfunction of one of the many devices that have a direct correlation with fuel control and timing. The dealer should easily be able to figure this out once they scan the car.
